Actions of Gandhaka Tailam

- - Purified elemental Sulfur has antifungal action by inhibition of respiratory activities and ATP content and germinating capacity of fungal spores.
  - Keratolytic action is due to formation of Hydrogen sulfide through a reaction between Sulfur particles and Keratinocytes.
  - Elemental sulphur inhibits Streptococcus, Clostridium species of Bacteria and is thus effective in Infectious Skin diseases.
  - Sulphur metabolism is important through Methionine and Cysteine Metabolism for its Antifungal action.
    Lauric acid is effective in alleviating skin infections due to its anti-microbial activity, and significantly exfoliates the outer layer of dead skin cells and suppresses itching completely & thus effective in clearing skin lesions.
  - Curcumins with Anti-oxidant & Immune-potentiating action is helpful in immune modulation in Psoriasis, and Dermatomyositis complaints.
  - Curcuminoids have Broad spectrum Antibiotic action against both Gram Positive & gram-negative Bacteria, thus effectively heals Chronic & Infective Skin conditions.
