Gandha Tailam
Gandha Tailam is a unique combination of different herbs in Ayurveda that are proven to be beneficial in disorders of Bone, (Osteoporosis, Fractures), Osteoarthritis, and soft tissue Injuries (Sprains and Tears) of Tendon, Ligaments.

- Taraxasterol acetate in Gandha tailam synergistically reduces chronic joint inflammation and protects Synovium.
- Withaferin A & Withanaloids of Gandha tailam possess Central Skeletal muscle relaxant activity which effectively treats both muscle spasm and spasticity and thus acts as antispasmodic and Antispastic.
- Withanaloids heal muscle injuries which are indicated by stabilization of serum creatine kinase and decreased muscular interleukin-6.
- Phytosterols of Asparagus racemosus in Gandha tailam have an effect on Oestrogen receptors similar to Oestrogen which produces an Anti-osteoporotic effect.
- Liquiritin in Gandha tailam is proven to exhibit a neuroprotective effect against glutamate toxicity in differentiated pheochromocytoma cells, indicating that Gandha tailam is potential for the treatment of Neuro-degenerative diseases.
- Gandha tailam increases BMD by reducing Serum Osteocalcin which inhibits Bone Reabsorption in conditions of Osteoporosis.
- Sesamin in Gandha tailam promotes osteoblastic differentiation by regulating the Wnt/β-catenin pathway and improves bone structure by exhibiting therapeutic and preventive effects on Osteoporosis.
- Sesamol and Sesamolin reduce oxidative stress on bone and enhance antioxidant performance due to the osteoprotective effect of phytoestrogens.
- Sesame seed lignans or their metabolites bind to bone estrogen receptors (ER) and induce transcription of estrogen-responsive genes, which promote bone strength through the production of bone matrix proteins & heal fractures.
- Licorice in Gandha tailam exhibits significant neuro-protective action against ischemic damage in the hippocampus after transient fore-brain ischemia, and thus promotes locomotor activity and spatial behaviour.
- Licorice restores decreased levels of brain enzymes like glutamate and dopamine and decreases acetylcholinesterase activity.
- Gandha tailam has the capacity to stimulate neuronal dendritic growth properties.
- Licorice glycyrrhizic and 18β glycyrrhetinic acid provides anti-inflammatory effect by attenuating the generation of excessive NO, PGE (2), and ROS & inhibiting NFkB and P13k activity.
- Umbelliferone, and glabridin in Gandha tailam inhibit prostaglandin E2, thromboxane 2, and COX-2 and act on the symptoms of pain and inflammation.
